Kohls is a deal hunter’s paradise. With coupon codes always available, the ability to stack different types of coupons with a sale, their Rewards program and Kohls cash, it’s not uncommon to easily save 70%! This article will teach you ALL the secrets to shopping and saving at Kohls.
- Everything goes on sale. There’s no reason to ever pay full price for anything at Kohls. Those full prices are inflated. Practice a bit of patience and wait for a sale AND a coupon code.
- There’s always a coupon code. – You can always find at least 15% off your purchase. At the very least, sign up for Kohls texts to get a unique 15% off code good off your whole purchase. {Check out the latest Kohls Codes HERE}.
- Kohls Charge – If you’re ok with having and maintaining a credit card (this includes ONLY charging what you can afford to pay off each month as the interest rate is ASTRONOMICAL), get the Kohls Charge. It unlocks a coupon code for 30% off your entire purchase (that you can use up to 10 times), FREE shipping codes and exclusive deals. You also get a FREE gift (this year I got a FREE $10 to spend on my birthday month!)
- Kohls Cash – at least 2 weeks a month, Kohls offers Kohls Cash earning periods. For every $50 spent, you earn $10 back in Kohls Cash which is money off your next purchase. Watch your Kohls Cash certificates for the redemption date. To make it easier, your Kohls Cash is also stored in your Wallet on the Kohls app. If you get to $48 BEFORE sales tax, the register will trigger the Kohls cash and you’ll still get it! There is a 10 day grace period on expired Kohls cash, they should take it without a fuss up to 10 days past expiration.
- SUPER KOHLS CASH SECRET! – You can combine purchases made in the same week for Kohls cash! What I mean is, say you end up making a $25 purchase at one store, and come back later or to a different Kohls and spend another $25. Take both receipts and go to Customer Service. They can give you your $10 Kohls cash since you spent $50!
- Sign up for their FREE Rewards program – Yes2You Rewards lets you earn store credit for a future purchase! You earn 5% back in the form of Kohls Cash on every purchase, and it is payable the next month AND when your balance is at least $5! It’ll be automatically applied to your Wallet in the Kohls app or in your online Kohls.com account.
- Once a month, watch for that coveted 40% off code – Typically the LAST Sunday of every month, Kohls sends out coupon codes, so watch your email. You’ll get a unique, one time use for 20, 30 or even 40% off good for that one day.
- Score FREE shipping – you can get FREE shipping every day on $75+ orders, AFTER all coupons and Kohls Cash has been applied. If you have the Kohls Charge and are an MVP Kohls Charge holder (spend $600 annually to unlock) you get free shipping. There is one workaround that is good to know if you live near a brick and mortar store. Head to the store to make your online order and get your phone on the store’s free guest WIFI. It will waive the $8.95 shipping charge! Also connecting to the store’s WIFI will often pop up a surprise coupon (like $5 off $25!). Sweet!
- Stack up to 4 coupon codes – this is where the fun starts! You can stack up to 4 coupon codes at Kohls as long as they are from different categories. This means on an order you can use one % off coupon, one $ off coupon (for instance now and then they offer $10 off a $50 purchase), one $ off category coupon (like a $10 off $50 Home dept purchase) and one FREE shipping code.
- Rebates – Kohls offers mail-in rebates on products. At the time this article was published, there was a generous $25 back on Rachael Ray cookware sets. {Go HERE for all the Current Kohls Rebates}
- Best time to shop – Everyone’s working for the weekend! Work on those best deals on the weekends. Fridays from 3 PM on through Sunday is the time to get the best deals at Kohls. Often they have weekend only sales which we’ll get into later on down the list, and periodically they’ll have an exclusive coupon (up to 15% off!) for those Friday evening hours and early Saturday morning.
- Price Match – Kohls offers price matching, however with some caveats. They price match brick and mortar stores only, so no Amazon or other online only stores. And coupons CAN be used on a price match!
- Price Adjustments -Save your receipt whenever you make a purchase. If Kohls lowers the price of that item within 14 days, they will refund the difference! They will even adjust a PRICE MATCH!
- Learn those LCD price tag codes – Spend any time in store and you’ll see those LCD price display screens everywhere. Did you know that you can tell if you’re getting the best price just by knowing a few secrets about those displays? Yup! Check out the upper left corner of those screens.
- BB: Bonus Buy, this is a ridiculously low price and a deal not to be missed.
- BGH – Buy one, get one 50% off.
- PP – this price is fixed by the item’s manufacturer and not discounted.
- S – sale price, the price will stay at this fixed sale price for 1-2 weeks.
- NM – New Markdown. Newly discounted price. It will go lower!
- GV – Limited Time Sale – (like the early bird and night owl sales that run on Friday nights/Saturday mornings)
- Square in the upper right corner – item is at it’s absolute lowest price. Don’t expect a drop unless it sticks around to go on clearance.
- Get discounted gift cards before you shop! – Sites like Raise are an amazing resource to get gift cards at a discounted rate. You can usually save 5-10% off the face value of a gift card! Try it now, and get $10 off $100 {Sign Up HERE}
- Gold Star Clearance Events – About 4 times a year, Kohls offers the Gold Star Clearance event where racks and racks of clothes and accessories are up to 90% off! To make this even more amazing, you can use coupon codes to make your cost even lower!
- Senior Citizens Discount – every Monday Veterans get a military discount. Have your ID handy. On Wednesdays, seniors get 15% off their purchase. Ask (nicely) for it!
- Generous Return Policy – You have 180 days to make a return for almost any reason. No receipt is needed, they can look up your purchase to verify using your payment card, so have that handy so the return goes smoothly. If you paid cash, you can return – but be aware with no receipt, you’ll have to accept whatever price the item is currently so you may not get a full refund if the item is now on sale or clearance. Electronics are limited to a 30 day return period. Be sure it’s in the original packaging.
- Best Days to Find Markdowns – without a doubt, go shop on the second and last Saturday of a month as this is when they’re most active in store making new markdowns. I’ve scored so much Nike and Under Armor clothes for my daughter with this little trick.
- DON’T Buy Small Kitchen Appliances ANYWHERE ELSE! – Black Friday is EPIC at Kohls on these small kitchen appliances like toasters, waffle makers and hand mixers! They are DEEPLY discounted – you can get them for as low as $1.99 after a sale, coupon code, rebate and sometimes earning back Kohls cash! This is an amazing deal to think ahead for upcoming wedding and bridal shower gifts, housewarming, college students, and more.
- DO NOT BUY these things – So many things are crazy hot deals to buy at Kohls but not everything. Typically what to avoid buying there are toys (you can do better at Target or Amazon) and beauty products.
