At a first glance, their price may seem expensive, but if you follow me you know I ALWAYS have a trick or two to get the most for your money! Read on to see how to save the most at Hobby Lobby with this list of shopping tricks ONLY the employees know!
Bad News First – That coveted 40% off coupon is no more. Yes folks, don’t look long and hard anymore for a 40% off any item coupon. This has been replaced with a sale on a different category each week. Check out this handy list below as an idea of when seasonal categories go on sale and prepare to save up to 80% off!
Get the FREE App: Save a tree and scan the sales with the FREE Hobby Lobby app for your phone. It’s a convenient way to see the weekly sale.
Double Dippin on Saturday Night: Some locations activate the new sale for the next week EARLY (Saturday evening) and this can overlap with the current sale. Check with your store as not all will offer this.
Skip online shopping at Hobby Lobby: Prices tend to be more online than in store, AND on top of that, you have to add in shipping charges. Shipping is STEEP as it’s on a tiered basis: the more you spend, the more shipping is! If you have a free shipping code though, and there’s a sale online, THEN it’d be worth it to shop online.
Holiday Clearance: Hit the backs of the store right after a major holiday to save up to 90% on holiday decor.
Discounted gift cards: If you’re planning a big purchase (like $100 or more) make your money go further with discounted gift cards. Get up to 15% off the face value of the card with sites like Giftcard Granny or Raise. {Get a $5 bonus for signing up with Raise HERE}
You CAN Price Match: if it’s an identical item sold elsewhere and if you bring in a print ad Hobby Lobby will happily price match.
Teachers/Churches and Charities get an extra 10% off – Prepare to show proof of your status if asked for it.
If Items are Slightly Damaged – Ask nicely – you may be able to bargain on the price on items with slight damage. It’s up to the manager’s discretion. I’ve personally never had a problem getting half off the price for cosmetic damage.
Don’t Bother Buying – Skip out on party supplies. Even on sale, they are priced higher. My favorite places to get party supplies at Dollar Tree or Walmart.
Price adjustments – Hobby Lobby will offer a one time price adjustment if you fall in love with an item and buy it at full price, only to see it go on sale within 14 days. Just save your receipt. I recommend combing through the sale ad after you make your purchase using the free Hobby Lobby app.
Best day to shop – Shop in store Monday or Tuesday. They’ll have new merchandise stocked and the store reset from the weekend. It’s also early in the new sale week so you’ll find the best selection and most variety.
If a Sale Item Sells Out: Don’t be shy ask for a raincheck! Rainchecks will be issued and the sale price will be honored when it gets back in stock.
Is there a sale pattern? – Yes, and this is what I’ve noticed.
- Craft supplies and kits rotate on sale for up to 50% off every 3 weeks.
- Jewelry and jewelry-making kits every 3 weeks up to 50% off.
- Frames and floral decorations every other week for up to half off.
- Art supplies also every other week for half off.
